DirectPointe Announces Additional Members to Board of Directors

DirectPointe Inc., a leader in subscription based computing services, recently announced six new individuals have joined its Board of Directors. The individuals were selected based on their understanding of the technology industry and their unique perspective on business processes.
DirectPointe welcomes the following new individuals to the DirectPointe Board of Directors:
MICHAEL LEVINTHAL (Managing Partner of Thomas Weisel Venture Partners) Mike brings over 23 years of venture capital investing experience. Prior to joining Thomas Weisel Venture Partners, Mike spent 20 years with the Mayfield Fund. During his tenure at Mayfield, Mike sponsored such successes as Citrix, Concur Technologies, Heartstream, Pure Software and WebMethods. Additionally, he founded Mayfield Software Partners, a side fund consisting of 20 leading software entrepreneurs as investors. He began his career in venture capital at New Enterprise Associates (NEA). While at NEA, Mike founded ONSET Ventures, a venture firm specializing in incubating new companies. Additionally, he sits on the advisory board of vSpring Capital, is the Vice Chairman of Interplast (www.interplast.org) and a board member of the Forever Young Foundation (www.foreveryoung.org). Mike holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He received both his MS and BS degrees in Engineering from Stanford University. He has served as an advisory board member to the Stanford Technology Venture Program and established the Mayfield Fellows program at Stanford University and University of California at Berkeley.
JACK W. SUNDERLAGE (CEO of ContentWatch) Jack Sunderlage has enjoyed a long and successful career in the Information Technology industry. Currently he is the CEO of ContentWatch an internet protection company. In addition Jack currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Utah Information Technology Association where he has been a trustee since 1991. He has held key executive positions with Burroughs, UNISYS, Digital Equipment, Compaq Computer, and Hewlett-Packard. His most recent assignment was Vice President of Global Accounts, West Region for Compaq, a part of HP. In 2004, Jack was selected to the vSpring v100, a group of the top capital entrepreneurs in Utah. Other community affiliations include the Rotary Club of Salt Lake, the Technology Advisory Board for the Gore School of Business at Westminster College, the National Advisory Council for the Marriott School at Brigham Young University, and the Athletic Advisory Council at BYU. Jack received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Executive Education includes leadership coursework at Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts.
WILLIAM MUSTARD (CEO of Canopy Group) Bill Mustard is CEO of the Canopy Group. Prior to joining Canopy, he was a senior executive in the entrepreneurial Stenbeck organization, most recently as the President and CEO of the privately-held US investment holding company, which he built from scratch developing businesses on both a domestic and international basis. His experience covered the sectors of television and media, technology with military electronics and telecoms R&D, call center operations, computer network systems integration, telecoms consulting and billing systems, and, transactions processing. Additionally, Bill ran the global risk management and financial investigative business for all of the Stenbeck group companies and developed corporate governance provisions including work related to Sarbanes-Oxley. He has been responsible for the design and execution of complex cross border transactions including disposals, reorganizations, restructurings and financings. Bill’s professional foundation is in finance having been educated as an economist and trained as a chartered accountant while practicing with Ernst & Young in the UK, USA and Europe. He has provided corporate advisory and investigative services, consultancy and audit services to international private and public companies.
PHILLIP J. WINDLEY (Former CIO of the State of Utah) Dr. Phillip J. Windley is a nationally recognized expert in using information technology (IT) to add value to the business. Dr. Windley is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Brigham Young University. Prior to joining BYU, he served from 2001-2002 as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the State of Utah, serving on the Governor Mike Leavitt's Cabinet and as a member of his Senior Staff. In this capacity he was responsible for effective use of all IT resources in the state and advised the Governor on technology issues. During his tenure, the State was repeatedly recognized by many national groups for its excellence in the areas of IT and eGovernment. Prior to his appointment as CIO, Dr. Windley served as Vice President for Product Development and Operations at Excite@Home, managing a large, interdisciplinary team of product managers, engineers, and technicians developing and operating large scale Internet and e-commerce products. Prior to joining Excite@Home, Dr. Windley served for two years as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of iMALL, Inc. an early leader in electronic commerce. Windley received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis in 1990. Prior to doing graduate studies, Windley worked for 4 years as a nuclear metallurgist and a member of the technical staff at the Division of Naval Reactors in Washington, D.C. His duties included overseeing nuclear core and plant material testing in the Advanced Test Reactor. Dr. Windley served as an Engineering Duty Officer in the US Naval Reserve including five years on active duty and nine years as a drilling reservist.
ALAN D. AYERS (Managing Director of American Express Financial Advisors) Alan Ayers has a unique background that includes sales, management, executive leadership, and teaching. He received an MBA from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah where he was also an adjunct professor of Finance. Prior to starting a Financial Advisory Practice of American Express Financial Advisors, Mr. Ayers was employed at Headwaters, Inc. a billion dollar energy and technology company. He served Headwaters from 1995 to 1999 in several positions including Director of Investor Relations, Vice President of Administration and COO, as well as serving on the companies’ Board of Directors. During his career with Headwaters, Mr. Ayers helped forge key relationships with many Fortune 500 companies, and was successful in developing and monetizing 28 synthetic fuel licensing projects. He was also instrumental in developing several strategic programs with financial partners which funded over $250 million for synfuel project construction of these same facilities around the United States. Prior to his Headwaters career, Mr. Ayers was Director of Retail Operations for two locally owned retail store chains. While there, Mr. Ayers was instrumental in establishing key contracts with strategic customers as well as managing company resources, growing both top-line as well as driving bottom line results. Mr. Ayers left the retail industry in 1995 to join the Headwaters team in order to fulfill a life long dream of growing a small but emerging public company.
KENNETH W. JENNINGS JR. (Managing Director of Colter Jennings, LLP) Ken Jennings specializes in technology licensing and business/legal models for high-tech enterprises. Mr. Jennings was formerly the General Counsel of TenFold, Inc, a publicly-traded company, Associate General Counsel for Novell, Inc. and Asia-Pacific Division Counsel for Oracle Corporation. In his international career, Mr. Jennings has provided legal services related to joint ventures, licensing, and business structures to dozens of Fortune 500 companies. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Brigham Young University and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington.
